Company description:: Notice how clothing styles are directly influenced by culture, which is directly influenced by music?
Hip Hop Headz have Sean John, FUBU, and Ecko. Pop Culture Cats have Ambercrombie & Fitch. What does the Reggae/Roots/Dancehall Massive have? Bob Marley shoes, a couple of “Irie Mon” T-shirts and maybe a Ganja T-shirt or two. This ongoing imbalance of items developed to attract tourists paves the way for a niche that needs to be filled. Enter Foundation Riddims LLC…
Clothing that depicts the images we remember, the sounds we love, the very history of us – Culture, Foundation©
The design team of Foundation Riddims includes an in-house promotions, design, and administrative team in which each member does it grass-roots style, wearing any hat necessary to complete each project. The basic premise of Foundation Riddims is simple - quality, distinction, and culture. The organization prides itself on being one of few (if any) interactive clothing lines out --this means you can log on or call to enlighten the staff as to which island(s) or areas you want to see represented! The objective is to market designs that stand out and send a positive message to both those born of the Caribbean and those who have an affinity toward it.
Entering the apparel design scene with the “Pon Di Riva” T-shirts, the company tested the market with apparel inspired by a Jamaican dancehall move. Chancing low sales because of a dance only familiar to a small subculture, and risking the potential limitation of being known as the “people who make dancehall shirts,” the venture was risky at best. Never underestimate the results of hard work, hot graphics, and familiar scenes. Not only did Foundation Riddims receive support and patronage from the dancehall crew that “bus di dance” with said move, but Trinidad and the U.S. appreciated the artwork and supported heavily as well. Next up is the Kingston line, representing the Jamaican capital to the max. Subsequent lines will include influences of other Caribbean islands, the Conscious movement, old school events, and more.
