(LOS ANGELES: October 20, 2003) – The Departure Lounge is an exclusive suite that will be debuting the fashion collections of Anton, Paula Hian and Kaptain Leather Bubble and jewelry collections by Virgins Saints and Angels during Los Angeles Fashion Week from October 28 – November 2, 2003 against the modern and sophisticated backdrop of the Downtown Standard Hotel.
This invitation only showroom is an opportunity for guests to view these unique collections in a relaxed and sophisticated environment with complementary refreshments and gifts from Redken, Air France, Elite Traveler Magazine, Passport Cosmetics, Martini & Rossi Asti, Evian Natural Spring Water, and Starbucks Frappuccino and Espresso at the Downtown Standard Hotel, which has become the focal point for Los Angeles Fashion Week.
Paula Hian is a distinctive fashion designer, she loves to combine color, texture and shapes, yet is committed to creating wearable fashions. A regular at NY Fashion Week, this marks the first time Paula Hian’s collection will be showcased at Los Angeles Fashion Week.
Anton is a skilled artisan who specializes in creating unusual leather garments. Many of his pieces are reversible and feature deconstructed seams and stitching. Anton’s creations have been worn by entertainment personalities including Sting, Lenny Kravitz, Gloria Estefan, Queen Latifah, Areosmith, Seal, and Halle Berry.
Kaptain Leather Bubble is a new collection of leather garments with an inimitable difference. Using an experimental technique, the leather is treated to give it a bubble-like appearance. This is an entirely new concept in leather texture.
Virgins, Saints and Angels is a handmade line of ornate necklaces, belt buckles and earrings with references to various religious icons and popular figures from history. Designer Cheryl Finnegan, along with her team of dedicated jewelers, has crafted this collection with the image of ‘Goddesses” as her inspiration. The highly original jewelry line is now available in the US, Mexico, Spain, and Ireland.
The Departure Lounge is a proponent of ‘Fashion With A Conscience’ by including donation letters and informational material on the United Nations World Food Programme in exclusive Elite Traveler gift bags.
